Extenders work as a bridge between the host device, which means the router and all the devices connected to your network. It receives internet supply from the router and rebroadcasts more efficient internet to facilitate your browsing, gaming, shopping, and working experience in a better way. One must be aware of its working to troubleshoot some basic and common issues. Why Your Wavlink Extender Is Not Working?

There can be many reasons for your extender's failure and you can not fix all of them. However, if you know about the causes and the factors responsible for that then you can fix most of the issues all by yourself. Read all the information thoroughly for a better understanding.

Insufficient Internet Supply

If your router is not able to supply the optimum amount of internet supply then it is quite obvious that your extender will have nothing to rebroadcast to your connected devices. 

Fixes 

• Talk to your Internet Service Provider and ask him if the problem is from the back end. 

• Upgrade your network plan if needed. 

• Check the devices that are connected to your network. Remove the ones that you are not aware of or the ones that you do not use.

Electricity 

Electricity is a very underrated aspect when it comes to technology but at the same time, no gadget can work without it. Therefore, it is smart to check for the electricity supply before checking other things. 

Fixes 

• Check the power outlet, plug, ethernet cable, etc.

• All of the connections should be tightly done.

Placement 

The place you choose for your extender plays a vital role in determining the quality of the internet your extender is going to provide. So, it is quite obvious that you should choose an appropriate place. 

Fixes 

• Keep the extender halfway between your router and the dead WiFi zones.

• The extender should not be hidden behind any walls, big objects, or any other physical obstruction.

• The electromagnetic devices emit electromagnetic waves that interfere with the network connection and result in an interrupted data supply.

• Use Wavlink’s Spot Finder feature if you are not able to choose the right place for your extender.

Firmware Update  

If the firmware of your extender is not updated to its latest version then it can cause some issues for your data connection and your extender as well.

Fixes

• Update your device’s firmware.

• Go to the administration settings.

• Check for any available updates. 

• Update your firmware immediately if there are any updates.

• Set the firmware to automatic mode so you do not have to check for the updates again and again. 

VPN and Other Extensions 

Some extensions like VPN can also interrupt your internet connection. So, it is advised to remove such extensions and then check if your extender is working or not.

Port Forwarding 

Not always but sometimes the port forwarding feature can also interrupt your browsing and you can misunderstand it as your extender’s fault.

• Go to the port forwarding option in your settings.

• Check all the settings and disable it for a few seconds to see if this is the actual reason for your trouble.

SSID And Password 

Check your SSID and password if there is any mistake while typing has occurred. And, sometimes the extender may create a separate password. 

Fixes 

• Login again and type the SSID and password.

• Change the password by customizing settings so that you can remember it and also control the number of devices connected to your extender. 

Configuration 

Configuration is the most important part of any wireless WiFi network system and any mistake no matter how small can result in the Wavlink extender not working issue.

•  Reconfigure your device.

• You can take the help of the internet or the user manual guide.

Resetting The Extender 

If none of the above-mentioned methods work then you should try resetting your extender. These are the steps that you need to follow to reset your extender:

1. First, locate the reset button on your extender as it is very small to avoid accidental resets.

2. Take a paper clip or any small and sharp object to press the button as it is very small and pressing it for 15-20 seconds is very difficult.

3. Keep pressing the button until the light changes color. And then release the button.

4. Let the extender reboot for a few seconds and restore to its factory settings. The LED light will keep blinking during this time but that just indicates that the resetting is in the process. 

5. Reconfigure your Wavlink extender device once the reset is done.
