Scientific Center for Immunology, Allergology and Human Genomics.Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU), located in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, was founded in 1930 and is one of the oldest medical institutions in Central Asia. The university aims to train competitive specialists in public health, integrating advanced educational, scientific, and medical technologies to improve healthcare delivery.
Faculties and Programs:
SSMU has 9 faculties and offers 9 undergraduate areas of study.
The faculties include Medicine, Pediatrics, Medical Pedagogy, Higher Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Prevention, Public Health and Medical Biology, International Faculty, and Postgraduate Education.
Undergraduate areas include Medicine, Pediatrics, Professional education (medicine), Higher Nursing, Dentistry, Medical prevention, Pharmacy, Medical and biological affairs, Ethnoscience, Clinical psychology, and Management: management in healthcare.
The university provides courses at the undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral levels.
Since 2020, the institute has launched 6 joint educational programs in Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, and Healthcare management.
Student Life and Resources:
SSMU has 74 departments with 1,190 classrooms equipped with modern computers and 75 multimedia classes.
The university has an Academic Lyceum.
A modern information and resource center provides bibliographic information and services. The center contains over 300,000 copies of literature, including rare scientific literature in medicine.
The university has implemented a distance learning program.
SSMU provides hostel facilities for international students, with separate rooms for boys and girls, wardens, furnished rooms, filtered water systems, air conditioning, kitchens, canteens, reading rooms with Wi-Fi, TVs, washing machines, and 24-hour emergency medical care.
Clinical Practice:
SamSMU has Clinic No. 1 (375 beds) and Clinic No. 2 (200 beds). Students also receive practical training at medical and diagnostic institutions in Samarkand.
From the 3rd year onward, students visit hospitals and interact with local patients.
The time students spend in hospitals for clinical/practical classes increases with each year.
